The Great Worm
The Worm, it eats, and worms devour
the subtlest forms of man.
The Worm, loveless, in empty bower
consumes all life began.
The spreading shadows come at night
to recede come new day,
but some never awake to light
when Darkness comes to play.
The past at times returns to us
in some ungodly form
to twist, reshape, make horrendous;
the past Echoes strange norms.
