Poem: Dreaming Stars

Though heaven her curtain pulls,
through pinpricks her light escapes.
For her veil of starlit holes
—hungering—my heart still aches

The stars, the stars, they shine,
and everyone is mine.
They’re mine to see and know.
I’ll sit and watch them glow.

Into bed I must
seeking sleep there dream,
and one day I’m dust.
There no stars will gleam.

I’ll dream of stars,
and dream that ours’
a dream that’s true.
I’ll dream of you.

It won’t shake,
for I long
when I wake
for our song.

But you
eschew;
are gone
so long.

I
wait
my
fate.
