Rescued

BY DR. AGONSON

By silence nothing is made,
and in decadence will fades.
Now no tongue can speak these ills,
for I have disease that kills.

Slowly this fate did come.
The crafty devils sung.
Their songs of putrid lust,
this heart knew not to trust.

Knowing yet wanting,
and devil’s vaunting
corrupt desire,
leads to this mire.

The world, methinks,
in this pit sinks:
Good’s wants sours,
evil’s flowers.

Nothing left,
it is theft,
this abuse
of God’s truth.

Life ends.
Amends
cannot
be sought.

I
lie
in
sin.

Savior,
it’s your
death to
rescue.

I despised,
though you tried
calling me
from the sea.

How can you drown
in this mud mound,
O Son of man,
for me, the damned?

Through deep depths I fell
into the pit, Hell,
yet in dread darkness
holiness invades.

You broke my chains that day,
cleft earth and sky to save
an unfaithful lover
from the dragon’s fire.

Renewed by your strength I cling,
praying always this one thing,
to never leave mercy’s grace
and one day to see thy face.
