By Fire Judged, We Stand in Ash

BY DR. AGONSON

By fire judged, we stand in ash;
by silence slain, our towers fall.

I walked away into the night,
shrouded in shadows of the night,
and learned the place the dead are kept,
the hold where all the dead are kept.
No more to speak, a silent grave,
a corpse stays snuggly in its grave.

Surrounded and alone am I,
standing above a greater crowd
of ancient memories unknown.
The markers all are burnt and charred;
no snow, but ash abounds. I see,
fallen below, an old stone cross.

By fire judged, we stand in ash;
by silence slain, our towers fall.
